When I came in for the results of my routine Physical, the doctor said gently
“Harris, you’d better sit down. I’ve got some good news and I’ve got some bad news”
“OK”, I said, while hitting rock bottom, “give me the bad news first”
“Well’, said the doctor, “you need immediate surgery, yeah, that’s right – next week”
“God!” I gasped, wiping the sweat off my face. “What on earth could be the good news?”
“You know that West End border with Coal Harbour building…?”
“You bet” I said
“The one on Alberni Street…?”
“Right…”
“You know, The Lions. At 1367 Alberni Street, to be clearer…”
“Yeah, yeah. Where’s the good news?”
Looking forward, the good doctor announced with a grin,
“I just bought a three bedroom over there!”
